“Perhaps I have given some lenient sentences.  I would never apologise for that.  Sending people to prison is a thing that no judge likes to do.  And in the High Court, when you’re sentencing, it’s usually just a matter of how long – it’s not “whether”.  There aren’t many options because of the sorts of crimes with which you’re dealing in the High Court.”
